Reset

Self-care is important. Take the time to reset and do something you haven’t done in a long time but love to doWe often get caught up in our daily routines and activities and forget to do some things we enjoy doing. We tell ourselves, “I don’t have the time; I have more important things to do; I’ll do it at some point.” We don’t realize that taking the time to do the things we love is what we need to replenish our energy and rejuvenate our spirits to attend to our families.
After being off skis for ten years, I returned to the Vermont mountains to rekindle my passion for skiing. We went on family ski trips to Vermont for years until my daughter injured her knee at school. I was never an advanced skier, but enjoyed the scenery, athleticism, and adventure as I skied down beginner and intermediate slopes. Being outside attends to my well-being and nurtures my soul, so this ski trip over President’s Day Weekend was exactly what I needed to prepare for a fast-paced 2024.

So far, this year has gotten off to a great start. I participated in a panel discussion about trauma in teens for an event sponsored by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., AtantiCare, and The Atlantic City Boys & Girls Club. I was also a featured author in the Central New Jersey Chapter of Jack and Jill of America’s Black History Month Community Expo.

My upcoming events include participating in a Literary Cafe sponsored by the Central Jersey Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and being a keynote speaker for a spring wellness event for Headstart parents. Of course, I will continue appearing on CBS News NY and working on other projects. More to come!

What do you plan to do to reset? I’d love to know. Reply and let me know!

Best,

Dr. Liz
